Calling all creative folks at Duke!

In order to minimize health and safety risks from COVID-19 to our patrons, the larger community, and Duke students, faculty, and staff, Duke University has adopted new policies on spring semester classes, residential life, travel, events, and campus visitors. In keeping with the university’s directives, we are cancelling public events at the Rubenstein Arts Center through April 20, including RubyX. More information.

Submit your application to share your artwork, performance, experimental design, works-in-progress, creative talk, or any other projects at the first ever RubyX on April 9, 4-7pm. This event is a partnership between DuArts, DukeCreate, The Innovation Co-Lab, the Rubenstein Arts Center, Duke Arts, and #artstigators.

Priority Deadline: Friday, March 20
Final Deadline: Friday March 27

RubyX is an expo for students working in creative disciplines to present their projects and collaborate with other students from various art-, engineeering-, tech-, and maker-centric practices. This includes but is not limited to, senior capstone projects, independent projects, club projects, or personal projects; and includes completely finished works or works in progress. We’re looking for anything from serious art praxis to weird experimental design, and everything in between. We hope students will use the flexible design of the Ruby to creatively adapt the space to their needs and utilize the opportunity to share their creative development process, scholarship, and experimentation

The event will also feature food trucks, a showcase of creative output, hands-on projects, demos, performances, workshops with the Scrap Exchange, Locopops, and more.

If you are an instructor with a class that has projects that could be displayed, please encourage students to fill out the interest form, or refer the students to us and we can reach out directly.

Tune into events & opportunities!
