On August 19, the Class of 2025 joined us for the first-ever block party in the Duke Arts District, featuring a live performance by Durham’s hip-hop and soul collective Young Bull. Students got to know the Rubenstein Arts Center and the Nasher Museum of Art in this event designed to welcome first-year undergraduates to the arts community at Duke.

Students celebrated O-Week and creativity with Duke and Durham favorites like Poetry Fox, ARTpost at Happymess, t-shirt screenprinting, tech games, and more. First-years also perused the Nasher’s Collection Galleries, eight galleries that represent a brief history of human creativity from different times and parts of the world.

To end the night, Young Bull performed an exclusive set, presented by Duke Performances. Founded by two former Durham School of the Arts schoolmates, Mique Cameron and Solomon Fox, and later joined by Raleigh-based rapper Christian Sinclair, Young Bull combines Southern soul with hip-hop beats.
