RRR
(S.S. Rajamouli, 2022, 182 min, India, Telugu w/ English subtitles, DCP)

RRR is an exhilarating, action-packed spectacular that mythologizes two real-life freedom fighters who helped lead India’s fight for independence from the British Raj, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju. Set in the 1920s before their fight for India’s independence began, RRR imagines a fictional meeting between the two as an anti-colonial action blockbuster and buddy film.

RRR is basically what a superhero movie would look like if it didn’t apologize for itself: breathtaking action, gloriously bloody, and most importantly sincere in its bromance and anti-colonial politics.” – Peter Labuza

“The action sequences are utterly out of this world, the dance numbers are better than any western musical in recent memory, and the melodrama is so overblown and intense that it crosses ridiculous and loops back around to earnest and powerful.” – Alternative Lens

Screen/Society screenings are free and open to the public. (COVID-19 Info)
