Relief Linoleum Block Printing

Taught by Raj Bunnag
Duke Create poster

About the Workshop

This workshop will cover the basics of relief printing—how to transfer images to a linoleum block, enhance them on the block, and then hand print the result with barens and wooden spoons. This process has remained roughly the same since the 15th century. It is an extremely DIY method that can easily be done at home.

Take a break from our digitally dominated world, develop your analog skills, and explore this beautiful world of hand-carved and hand-printed words and imagery.

About the Instructor

Raj Bunnag is an artist and printmaker based in Durham, NC. He graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2012 with a BFA in printmaking. Since moving to North Carolina, Raj has worked out of a local print studio, Super G Print Lab, which is a community of artist/printers in the area. His artistic strengths are relief linocut/woodcut prints and multicolored screen prints.

About the Location

This workshop will meet in the Rubenstein Arts Center’s Makerspace.
