Description

Join us in celebrating the opening of the Enviro-Art Gallery in the Ruby Lounge! The Enviro-Art Gallery is an annual showcase of student and professional artwork designed to highlight the beauty and struggles of nature.

Cameron Oglesby (T ’21) is the curator for the Enviro-Art Gallery, an annual showcase she started in 2017 and brought to Duke for the first time last spring. Cameron explains why she started this project by saying, “I’ve tried to engage people in environmental issues my entire life and they haven’t really cared. I never understood that. I wanted people to understand what I was feeling about the planet. I feel that art allows people to feel another person’s passion and love for a topic, emotions that a viewer might not feel on their own. By creating a gallery, I was able to share my work and bring in other artists, allowing them to share their vision as well.”

Rebecca Vidra, senior lecturer of Environmental Science and Policy in the Nicholas School and director of the Environmental Leadership Program, will give remarks at 1pm.
