“A Forest Unfolding,” a collaborative cantata by Stephen Jaffe, Melinda Wagner, Eric Moe and David Kirkland Garner, with texts by Richard Powers, Anne Labastille, and others. Guest artists include Ilana Davidson, soprano; Alexander Hurd, baritone; narrator TBA; and chamber ensemble under the direction of Verena Mösenbichler-Bryant. The concert also features new works by graduate composition fellows Ryan Harrison and James Budinich.
“A Forest Unfolding,” inspired by Richard Powers’ new novel, “The Overstory,” features excerpts from the novel as well as additional prose texts and poems in a nine-movement cantata. The work premiered at the Electric Earth Concert Series in August and was also performed at the Portland Chamber Music Festival. Read more in The Boston Globe.
