The Accidental Man (Gary Hawkins, 2017, 23 min, Color, Digital)
Circa 60s – a boy and his plumber dad who go to a house to seal a leak in a narrow crawl space. When they arrive they’re met with a housewife who isn’t supposed to be there, and she has a history with the dad—not good. When her husband comes home, things get worse. The boy vies with the adults and their drama by getting immersed in an old science fiction movie.

Photosites are light collectors. They are at the heart of every digital camera, and the only light-sensitive element utilized in digital imaging. Within each camera’s image sensor there are millions of them; minute, light sensitive, silicon chambers. They hold light, just for a moment, before converting it into a signal that is legible to our various electronic devices. My images document this last light before digitization.
